Educational Objectives
 
  • Explore Internet-based tools (database resources, guidelines, etc.) to evaluate and apply evidence using pain treatment as a case study.
  • Evaluate Internet-based primary data and systematic reviews, quidelines, the Cochrane Library, and other sources of information from which physicians and patients acquire data and build expectations about differing pain etiologies and treatments.
  • Apply criteria for critically appraising the quality of pain related evidence and its applicability for practice, given the patient's proactive Internet research to seek "evidence" associated with their disease states.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through joint sponsorship of Tufts Health Care Institute and Tufts University School of Medicine(TUSM), in collaboration with Tufts Health Plan. TUSM is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. TUSM takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CE activity.
