Dear Colleague:
We're pleased to invite you to join with other clinical
leaders, researchers, educators, and policy makers
at our national conference on "Meeting the Challenge
of Medicaid Managed Care: Best Practices for Clinical
Care and Teaching," organized by Tufts Health
Care Institute (THCI) and Partnerships for Quality
Education (PQE).
Nearly every state in the nation has adopted managed
care approaches in their Medicaid programs, and the
majority of all Medicaid beneficiaries nationwide
are now enrolled in managed care plans or programs.
Academic health centers and affiliated practices care
for the vast majority of these patients. That means
you, your colleagues, and trainees, must learn new
strategies to care for poor and vulnerable populations,
and to optimize quality within fixed and limited budgets,
and to maintain excellence in research and teaching.
This two-day, cutting edge conference will help you
to:
- understand the Medicaid managed care environment;
- learn from best practices across the country;
- hear about the latest research and teaching innovations in Medicaid managed care and;
- acquire tools and techniqes for serving Medicaid enrollees in managed care.
In addition, we have organized the program to maximize
interaction, collegiality and opportunities to learn
from the experiences of others. Enrollment is limited,
and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sincerely,
Planning Committee Co-Chairs

This conference is designed to
give practitioners and teachers access to best practices
and innovations in managing the care of Medicaid and
low-income populations, taking into account current
trends, model programs, research results and teaching
innovations.
Through plenary addresses by national experts and
breakout sessions on practical topics, at the conclusion
of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Define current trends and developments in Medicaid
managed care programs;
- Identify best practices and innovations for
delivering high quality care to Medicaid enrollees;
- Assess research results that contribute to
positive outcomes for at-risk patients; and
- Implement strategies for training future
generations of practitioners in the principles and
practices of care management.
