Analgesic Research and Development
In recent years, Grunenthal has invested considerably in research and development, evolving into one of today’s leaders in the field of pain therapy. We are intensively searching for new analgesics with novel mechanisms of action that will improve upon pain therapy yet offer favorable side effect profiles in comparison to currently marketed products. Center of Excellence for Abuse Liability
In recognition of the rising problem of prescription opioid abuse, particularly in the United States, Grunenthal USA, Inc. has created a Center of Excellence for Abuse Liability (CEAL). With the support of an external Expert Advisory Panel and an internal Abuse Liability Working Group, CEAL strives to ensure that the ideas and concerns of all major stakeholders (i.e., regulatory authorities, academia, patients and industry) are understood and properly communicated internally. Through research collaborations, CEAL also supports academic research in substance abuse and is able to provide funding to various non-profit organizations committed to finding solutions to reduce prescription opioid abuse without having a negative impact on appropriate product availability for legitimate pain patients.

out-license our own successful developments.
