Curriculum Report

In developing THCI's curriculum framework, we consulted with our medical directors and other experts, and reviewed the work of nine leading academic organizations in the country to assess their positions on curriculum reform. These groups include, among others, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Pew Health Professions Commission, and the Council on Graduate Medical Education. We found significant agreement on the need to change training in light of the evolving nature of practice, and a general consensus on the new curriculum content that these reports advocate. Our synthesis of their findings is encapsulated in THCI's curriculum framework.

THCI has published the findings of this review of curriculum reports in the article:

A Synthesis of Nine Major Reports on Physicians' Competencies for the Emerging Practice Environment. Ralph Halpern, Mary Y. Lee, Philip R. Boulter, and Rosalie R. Phillips. Academic Medicine. June 2001;76(6):606-615.
